About: Each year our community neighbour school comes to the Rothney Astrophysical Observatory to learn about sky science. We also share our latest research with the aim of encouraging our neighbours to respect the dark skies around the observatory. This is a fun and informative evening and with the hope of clear skies for observing. This year we will be a part of the 100 hundred hours of astronomy and share this global initiative with the students.

About: Ever wanted to sit back and just discuss a topic and see where it leads? That is what our Armchair Astronomy meetings are all about! Once a month, we gather at the observatory to start discussing a topic…where it leads from there is completely dictated by the discussion. Start with a mission to Mars and end up in a black hole! These meetings are great fun as they do not require any particular special knowledge, and are a great way to learn a little about a number of different topics! Gates open at 1:30pm, discussion formally starts at 2pm.
