I am curator of astronomy at Sydney Observatory where I have worked for 30 years and which is part of a large Sydney, Australia museum called the Powerhouse Museum. There I have developed a number of exhibitions including ones on the 2003 close opposition of Mars and on the 2004 transit of Venus. Currently I am working on the Sydney version of from the Earth to the Universe exhibition due to open at the Powerhouse Museum in September 2009.
The Observatory also has a blog http://www.sydneyobservatory.com/blog to which I have contributed most of the posts so far.
For my PhD I studied a few bright southern examples of Beta Cepheid variable stars at Sydney Uiversity. One technique that came out of the work is now used in a wide variety of fields under the name Lomb-Scargle periodogram.
