Description
A day-long astronomy event on Saturday, April 4 will be held at beautiful Wolcott Mill Metropark located southeast of Romeo, Michigan. Starting at Wolcott Mill Historic Center at 1 to 5pm, we will explore our closest star; the Sun. A Hydrogen Alpha telescope will be on hand to safely view the sun's surface. Also, during the day, a talk on Galileo by Ken Bertin, moon observations, sun stories, the movie "Solar MAX", and astronomy crafts. In the evening, from 7-11pm, visit the Warren Astronomical Society's observatory in the Camp Rotary section of the park, east of the mill on 29 Mile Rd. Displays, activities, constellation walks, and numerous telescopes will be on hand for viewing some of the wonders Galileo saw 400 years ago. Owners of telescopes can bring theirs and members of the society will show how to use them. Further information can be obtained by calling the mill at 586-749-5997.
