Description
Astronomers at Sydney Observatory have been observing the night sky since 1858. Today the public can share in this experience as well, viewing through old and modern telescopes every night of the week, experiencing the solar system and beyond in the 3D Space Theatre, discovering the connections between astronomy and the history of Australia in the Museum and how the Aboriginal people were the first watchers of the sky in this land and Sydney's weather and its measurement and observation.
During the day there are tours at 11am, 12noon, 2.30 and 3.30pm (weekends and holidays) and 2.30 and 3.30pm weekdays. Night tours are held every night at 6.15 and 8.15 throughout the winter season from April to October. During summertime tours are held at 8.15pm. Bookings are required by phone (02 9921 34785) or via the website.
