Description
Observe the Moon and Saturn
Come see the Moon and Saturn at night at Yerkes Observatory through small telescopes on the south lawn on April 4th and 5th from 8-10 p.m. Yerkes is joining the International Year of Astronomy (IYA) celebrating 400 years since Galileo first turned a telescope to the skies. This Yerkes event is part of the 100 Hours of Astronomy IYA2009 Cornerstone Project designed to bring astronomy to the public around the world.
A limited number of people may observe through a 24 inch telescope. This special program requires participants to be able to climb 39 spiral steps and be age 12 and up.
This event is co-sponsored by Yerkes Tours, NASA’s Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA), National Science Foundation, and volunteers. Donations will be graciously accepted. For more information call Richard Dreiser at 262-245-5555 ext. 832 or send email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
