Sidewalk Astronomy and Star Party Award Winners
On behalf of the 100 Hours of Astronomy Task Group and our sponsors, Explore Scientific and Celestron, it is our great pleasure to announce the winners of our Sidewalk Astronomy and Star Party Competition.
The winning entries were announced officially at the IAU General Assembly in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 11 August, where Mike Simmons, Co-Chair of 100 Hours of Astronomy, announced the winners at the 100 Hours of Astronomy Awards and Closing Ceremony.
We would like to thank the many groups that took part in the 100 Hours of Astronomy events and to those who entered this competition. For those of you who submitted an award application but did not win, please know that judging for these awards was very difficult. The calibre of the events overall was amazing! If we had twice as many prizes to award, we could easily have chosen twice as many winners, we definitely were impressed with all the submissions.
