Type of observatory: Optical; near-IR
Description: Haute-Provence observatory, founded by CNRS in 1936, hosts several optical telescopes ranging from 60cm to 1.93m, mainly devoted to optical imaging and spectroscopy. The highlight programs are devoted to exoplanet studies and asterosismology, and the first exoplanet, 51Peg, was discovered here in 1995. It also hosts a geophysical station, with the main node of the Network for Detection of Stratospheric Changes.
