Type of observatory: Radio
Description: The Green Bank Telescope (GBT) is the world's largest fully steerable single-dish radio telescope. The GBT is located at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory's site in Green Bank, West Virginia. Although described as a 100-meter telescope, the actual dimensions of the surface are 100 by 110 meters. The GBT is of an unusual design. Unlike conventional radio telescopes, which have a series of supports in the middle of the surface, the GBT's aperture is unblocked, thereby increasing the useful area of the telescope and eliminating unwanted reflections and diffraction.
Location: USA Latitude: +38.432842 Longitude: -79.839411
