Subaru is an 8.2-meter optical-infrared telescope at the summit of Mauna Kea, Hawai`i, USA, operated by National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, National Institutes of Natural Sciences. "Subaru" means a Japanese name of the Pleiades, a group of stars in the constellation Taurus.
